Meeting started at 1:09 p.m.

1. Opening Prayer

2. Accept minutes from November meeting -- Katherine Marsella moved to accept, Kathy Mumma seconded. Minutes were accepted.

3. Public Comment -- None

4. Treasurer’s Report -- Tara Banks

Numbers on Christmas Extravaganza are not in yet. We sold about 93 trees at $35 each and 39 wreaths for $25 each.

5. Old Business

a. Christmas Extravaganza Report -- Tracey Whitney, Katherine Marsella

1. Lorin Holmes will chair the event next year and longtime chair Tracey is putting together a how-to manual.

2. Wreaths sell quickly. We had 40 when the extravaganza started and by Sunday, the second and final day of the event, only 8 were left.

3. Jon Hughes said that revenue was estimated to be more than $6,000 and our expenses did not exceed $3,000. We sold 20 tourtieres and could probably sell 25 next year.

b. Cabaret/Silent Auction Update -- Katherine Marsella

1. Committees are meeting

2. Katherine will follow up with a letter asking for volunteers from each class.

3. Decisions on an earlier start time for Cabaret and having a half day of school that Friday are pending.

c. Genevieve’s/Red Barn Update -- Katherine Marsella

Revenue is higher than previously thought due to online sales that hadn’t been included. Numbers still may not be final.

d. Barnes and Noble Book Fair and gift wrapping --Katherine Marsella

We are planning to advertise the Dec. 14 event on Front Porch Forum. More volunteers are needed for afternoon caroling in the store, but otherwise, we are ready.

e. Teacher Appreciation Update -- Katherine Marsella

We are stocking the teachers’ lounge with coffee and will provide dinner for teachers the night of the school Christmas concert. We plan to provide snacks for whole group faculty meetings Feb. 3 and March 10.

f. Decide on CKS Night at Lake Monsters game

We would like to schedule this event and will see if we can book it for Aug. 20 or Aug. 14.

6. New Business

a. School Board Report -- Jon Hughes

1. Discussions at the December School Board meeting included the board’s committee that has formed this year to focus on teacher retention. The committee is considering benefits and compensation, both monetary and other compensation.

2. A tech committee is working to improve our technology and to ensure that software licenses are current.

3. The Tarrant Institute for Innovative Education has accepted CKS in its program, which partners with middle schools to improve the education of young adolescents in Vermont through technology-rich learning. A CKS committee will meet in January to develop a proposal for how the institute can best help our school.

4. The School Board also discussed the Excellence in Education Foundation and the annual campaign.

b. Catholic Schools Week -- Katherine Marsella

Organizers may meet during the Christmas break to prepare for the week, Jan. 26 - Feb. 1.

c. Discuss Speaker and other ideas for the January 9 evening PTO meeting -- omitted.

d. Ice Skating Event -- Tara Banks (This item was added to the agenda.)

The November event was poorly attended. We need about 25 people to attend to break even. We decided to go ahead with the Jan. 12 ice skating event and then decide if we should continue the event or try something else.

Meeting adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
